Thanks so much! How I've missed this show escapes me, but it won't after tomorrow...

You won't be sorry after tomorrow...if anything, you'll be sorry that this show had eluded you for so long. You're in for a treat...the Spanish Jam is so unique and in my opinion is easily on par with the best GD telepathic jams out there, such as 2/18/71's Beautiful Jam.

Re: TWIH - 21 min of jam before Dark Star |
Thanks for the recommendation, and thanks also for saying this, which I totally agree with!:
However Phil and Jerry hit on a theme that is not very '74 at all, in fact it sounds much more '77 to me. They start playing something that sounds an awful lot like the transition jam between Eyes and Dancin' during that highly over-rated piece of crap show from 2-26-77!!
I've long said that 2-26-77 is waaaayyy overrated*, and it's nice to find agreement.
*I think it gets its 'legendary' status solely b/c so many songs from "Terrapin" are debuted there, inc. the Terrapin opener. But if you listen critically, the songs are sloppy**, lyrics are blown, and there's a noticeable lack of inspired jamming anywhere in the show, w/the exception of the Eyes>Dancin' transition jam mentioned.
** Not surprising, given their new status.

Don't hold back now, tell us how you really feel.
Honestly, even though I may not go quite so far as to use the term "crap", your overall review is spot on (to me at least).

Re: TWIH - 21 min of jam before Dark Star |
Actually i was being sarcastic based on the way people talk about this show being over-rated. I agree that much of the hype is related to the new tunes but to me those are not the highlights of the show. I think the Eyes>Dancin' is amazing, the HSF is imo very well played and enjoyable, the Sugaree is one of my favorites and i was happy to see Sugaree freak, DHM, include it in his list of best of the year in a year chock full of great Sugaree's.
I don't really understand the concept of a show being over-rated anyways. Is there some sort of gold standard that has been set for show ratings and i that standard this show is too high? Even Cliff who loves to call this show over-rated, puts it in his Top 10 for '77! Is this show as good as your beloved 10-29-77? Imo no, however I would definitely recommend it to someone if they were looking for a show from that era to listen to. So for me i like and would tell others to listen to it, so whether it is over-rated or under-rated is irrelevant.

Re: TWIH - 21 min of jam before Dark Star |
fair enuff...I guess i just got sick of it being a "top 10 for '77" when I think there are enough shows in May alone that crack the top 10 and blow 2/26 outta the water.
hey, that's why they have horse races ;-)
